IGNITE

Written by

Starting on October 5th, Revelation Church will be running a discipleship course called Ignite.

Ignite is where disciples are made and leaders are raised. It is a journey for men and women of all ages and backgrounds who have a passion to encounter the love of God, grow in their relationship with Him, and be equipped and empowered to impact their world with the good news of Jesus.

Ignite will run on Monday evenings at Revelation Central for 10 months alongside the school terms.

The preaching on Ignite is based on 3 central themes:

Who is God?

Who am I?

What am I called to?

In our fallen world, our view of God, ourselves, and our calling often becomes distorted. However Ignite, through a year of preaching and worship, seeks to transform our understanding of God as the Father who loves, inspires us to see ourselves as God sees us rather than anything less than that, and releases us with the power of the Holy Spirit within us to impact our world to see God’s kingdom at life.

The curriculum consists of 6 modules. We talk in detail about the nature of God, our identity as sons and daughters, and the life of a disciple. Ignite, however, is more than a course. It is a journey where people are ignited. It is all about encounter – encountering God in worship, encountering God in His word, encountering God in one another, and encountering God as we give away what we have learned.

If you are interested in the course, please speak to either Derek Garner or Andrew Benson. Derek and Andrew have both done the course themselves and can vouch for the amazing impact it has had on their lives.

We are really excited about the year ahead and to see men and women released into more of their calling.

Commitment Sunday Feast

Written by

Once a year we gather to thank Christ for His commitment to His Church and to celebrate all He has done over the last year at Revelation. It is a time to look to the next year and choose to make or renew our commitment to Revelation Church, if this is where you call home and where you have your roots to anchor you in Christ and enable growth in yourself, your family and the church family to bring glory to God. This year our Commitment Sunday will be held on the 18th of October. In the week leading up to it we will be praying and fasting as a church. More details of this will go out via our social media and Sunday morning/evening announcements.

We would love for you to join us at the Commitment Sunday feast on Sunday the 18th October at Chichester College, where will be sharing a meal together and celebrating all that God has done and is doing in this community. The event will start at 12pm. PLEASE BOOK YOUR TICKET as soon as possible by visiting our Eventbrite page (click here). Tickets are free but donations of any amount are welcome.

Do get in touch if you have any questions! (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

IGNITE - Derek Garner's experience

Written by

My time on Ignite

I went on the ignite course in 2013 in Southampton. At the time it ran for a whole day a week, it's one evening a week now. I had heard of others who had done it and loved it! Some of you may remember Carl and Debs Stone, they really encouraged me to do it and get involved.

As I made the decision to start Ignite I was hungry and thirsty to know God more and to find out what that meant for me and my life. I had done discipleship and leadership training before but it had been a few years and I felt that it's always good to allow room for growth. Although it was early in our marriage and Lottie was studying, it felt really right to take a day a week and pursue the course.

Ignite really starts off with a bang! Some solid teaching on who God is, what he thinks of us and his plan to redeem mankind, his children. I was lapping it up and loved every week. Some diverse and different teachers each week really helped and also meant a wide range of wisdom and experience was tapped into, also listening to same voice all day woulda been tough zzzzz. As well as great teaching, I was making great friends. It was really special to journey through that with people and still now, I have significant friendships with people I met on the course.

The second term is all about us, why God created us, what his vision for our lives is and what impact that has on the way we view ourselves. WOW, that time was really powerful, we looked long and hard at ourselves, patterns of behavior, reactions we have to others and the thought patterns that lead to them. It was a tough time but a really really good time. It had really intense moments but also incredibly joyous and freeing times too. In all of it, it was driven home that GOD IS GOOD and loves us so much. He only wants to give good gifts to us, that in its self can be hard to stomach!

The third term is all about action! We learnt about the fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, prophecying and encouraging each to pray for  healing and and miracles. Once again, some uncomfortable moments and times where I had to put aside my history and take the teaching at face value. Trusting that God is good and wants to heal, even when it seems not to happen right then. I've learnt that no matter what, keep going and don't give up. We also learnt about how to take everything we've learnt out into the worlds around us, that for me is the whole point. The whole point of the course and the whole point of the Christian life, to go and make disciples.... Matt 28. The course ended with a graduation evening where we all prophecied over each other and sent each out into the world to cause some damage!

In summery, the Ignite course empowered me to be more of who I am in Jesus, raised my awareness of my own giftings, gave me the genuine belief that God is good and, most importantly, empowered and realised me to go into our world and make him known.

I would thouroughly encourage anyone with a desire know God to do the course. Honestly, anyone. Any age, any background. All you need is a desire to know more of God.

If you'd like to do the course or chat it through more, you can contact me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thanks for reading and I hope you found it encouraging

Peace and Love.

We have fun filled age appropriate programmes that run every Sunday for children from 2 to 14 years old. The programmes are run by an amazing team of volunteers for 45 minutes (11am until 11.45am). For more detailed information on these programmes and all the other activities that happen for both Children and Young people beyond Sunday or on our Safe Guarding Policy please go to the ‘Get Involved’ tab on our website.

Every Sunday we are led by one of our house bands at the church. We mainly use recently composed songs which are in a contemporary style.

Talks
Every Sunday morning there will be teaching from the Bible that engages with relevant issues that face us in the world we live in. We look at how the Bible applies to our daily lives. The talks often flow in series over a number of Sundays. Our talks run for about 30 minutes.

Offering
Each week we have an opportunity to give to the work of the church on a Sunday morning. The money collected goes to the running of the church and all its operations. There is never any pressure to give so please feel relaxed about it. If you are a UK tax payer we also operate the Gift Aid scheme meaning if you fill out the simple form we can claim 25 pence in the pound for every donation you make.

Each Sunday we offer the opportunity for personal prayer. This usually takes place as our Sundays are drawing to a close.

Children and Young People
We do not have a provision for children and young people at our evening gathering but this does not mean children and young people are not welcome! We love to see families participate together and worship as a unit.

Talks
Most Sundays the talk is based on the same theme and scripture in the evening as it is in the morning and is delivered by the same speaker, but often with a twist or slightly different angle. On occasion we do welcome guest speakers to come and join us for the evening gathering so at times the two meetings will be totally different in content.

Disability Access
Both of our Sunday venues have fully disabled access. We also have a disabled toilet facility. If you need more information or support please contact the church office (01243 531898) and we will do our best to assist you.

We do not serve refreshments at our evening gatherings but we do encourage everyone to meet at a local pub or restaurant after the meeting to enjoy a drink and each other's company. This is a great opportunity to build friendships and get to know each other.
