Using innovative psychology, the speakers invite you to notice aspects of reality that you habitually miss and to re-engage with your senses and feelings.
The event provokes greater awareness, by addressing questions such as:
How are we designed to live? How does modern culture pull us into our heads and out of our bodies? Which of our habitual thinking patterns are based on misleading premises? How can we learn, from children, to live with joy? What is the purpose of suffering and what keys does it hold for unlocking life?
You cannot think your way out of a situation you behaved your way into.
Daybreak tackles the wheel-spinning that goes on in someone’s head when he or she is afraid. By applying faith, embracing suffering, exposing dualisms, identifying with others and accepting what is real, a whole person deals with the issue – and fear diminishes.
This weekend is not about enlightenment – constructing another piece of rightness about being a Christian. Anyone leaving with the notion that they now know how to live will have won the booby prize. It is about growth.
Daybreak is about stretching our capacity to identify with more people, see more truth, and accept more of God. The speakers/trainers are:
Jim McNeish the co-creator of Daybreak and the founder of Cantle- a leadership development consultancy based in Scotland. His educational background has centered around the human potential movement (Gestalt, NLP, Bioenergetics, Est, Maslow, Rogers etc).
Roger Bretherton is a senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Lincoln. He is an Existential Psychotherapist and has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He has spent the last eight years working in front line clinical practice, and was named Psychotherapy Co-ordinator for the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust.
Gabriel Smy is a speaker, writer and church leader based in Cambridge. An English graduate from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, he is the author of Deeper, a student discipleship guide. He has spoken at Soul Survivor & Spring Harvest & works for City Life Church.
