Getting Involved

Marriage Course Half

A smile and a diamond ring – if you look after them both can last a lifetime. But can a marriage last as long?

Like a diamond, marriage is valuable and precious to be treasured and protected.

We can be sceptical about marriage when we see marriages in the spotlight lasting only months but marriage remains of vital importance to our society. Marriage is a place for couples to experience life long love, a stable base for family life and a place to bring up children within a loving and stable environment.

Even with separation on the increase most couples who fall in love aim for marriage – and when we get married we do so with the aim of making it work. Yet many lack the tools they need and when problems inevitably arise, couples often don’t know how to work them through.

The aim of the Marriage Course is to enable married couples to build a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. Over seven evenings spent together you will find out new things about each other, and new things about yourself. You will have the opportunity to talk together about issues that can easily be swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life. You will discover what makes your partner feel loved and have the opportunity to look at how to become better lovers as part of the process! The aim is to finish the course having grown closer together.

The subjects covered are:

  • Building a Strong Relationship
  • The Art of Communication
  • Resolving Conflict
  • The Power of Forgiveness
  • The Impact of Family- Past & Present
  • Good Sex
  • Love in Action

A typical evening

  • Arrive at 7.45pm for a desert and glass of wine
  • At 8pm there is a recap of the previous week followed by a series of short talks and video clips and short exercises around the evenings topic (see above).
  • Finish by 9.30pm

NB: There is no group work as part of the course.
