Have you ever felt alone, isolated with no-one to turn to when life throws its worst at you?
|
More often than not, the people who need the most support have no-one to turn to.
Revelation runs a pioneering project supporting people in our community who have HIV and Aids. Within a few years every person in the world will probably personally know someone who has died because of Aids. More than one in two hundred of all adults walking on the earth today are infected already. HIV is now also spreading twice as fast across the world as it was five years ago. There is still so much stigma, prejudice, fear, hostility and misinformation surrounding HIV and Aids both around the world and in our own city. People with HIV and Aids are often subject to rejection and abuse which leads to isolation and having no support. Our actions can speak louder than our words. With our small actions we are committed to doing our bit to help this global and local challenge.
The Volunteer Care Team is made up of men and women who volunteer their time to support people who live with the daily reality of HIV and Aids in our area. VCT works in partnership with our city hospital, St Richards (www.rwst.org.uk) on this project.
